Fish and Amphibian Alloherpesviruses

2019
Abstract As members of the Herpesvirales order, alloherpesviruses comprise viruses of both fish and amphibian species that share many features with other herpesviruses including their basic virion structure and characteristics such as life cycle and the potential for latent infection. They stand apart, however, through the particularities acquired by the nature of their ectothermic hosts, which has influenced not only their biology, but also how these viruses spread and are maintained through time and space. Their hosts and their great ecological diversity provide a unique challenge for the better understanding and management of alloherpesviruses.
