The correlation between the phase transition and valence change of the Yb ionic state induced upon pressurization in YbMn2Ge2

Abstract We investigated an origin of a pressure-induced magnetic phase transition in YbMn 2 Ge 2 . X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements at the Yb L III threshold under high pressures revealed that there is a strong correlation between the Yb ionic states and the Mn 3d–Mn 3d magnetic interactions in this system.
