Survival of endodontically treated teeth restored with titanium screw post

2010
Objective This retrospective study investigated the clinical effectiveness of tapered titanium screw posts in combination with dual-cure composite resin core material in endodontically treated teeth. Methods The study population comprised 40 patients and 49 endodontically treated teeth, with restored by the post-and-core technique.Groups were defined based on location of restored teeth, various degrees of hard-tissue loss, post diameter, post length and post adaptation in the prepared canal. The restorations were examined clinically and radiologically. Results 23 maxillary anterior teeth,7 mandibular anterior teeth and 19 premolars were included. There were no failure in the group with desirable remaining hard-tissue.During the evaluation period, five post-and-core restorations failed.Failure mode was post debonding(three cases) and post fracture(two case). Conclusion For titanium threaded post and dural core build-up materials, clinical performance was satisfactory.Survival was higher for endodontically treated teeth with desirable remaining hard-tissue.
