Research on Extraction of Suspected Flame Targets in Large Ship Space

Fire is one of the most important factors that threaten the safe sailing of ships. Timely and accurate video fire detection relies on fast and accurate extraction of suspected flame regions. In view of the complicated environment of varied illumination and numerous interferences in the large ship space, this paper analyzed the different methods of object extraction based on four typical flame and interference video images. Experiments showed that the commonly used motion detection method is not suitable for the extraction of fire targets in a large ship space, while the RGB-HIS flame color model proposed by Chen et al. has a good performance and can be used in the extraction of suspected flame regions.
