This diploma thesis connected with the issue of disinfectants intended for surfaces and skin disinfection, respectively. The theoretical part of the work contains the definitions of terms related to this issue. It is focused on hygienic cleanliness, especially in terms of microbial contamination. Furthermore, disinfection techniques and used methods of testing disinfectants are theoretically described. The practical part deals with the qualitative analysis of commercially available products and their comparison with the disinfectant formulation prepared according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The antimicrobial efficacy of the investigated disinfectants was evaluated using the disk diffusion method and CS EN 1040. The methodology of gas chromatograph and testing according to the standard mentioned above were introduced in the laboratory. The results of the analysis of model disinfectant samples by gas chromatography demonstrated that it is appropriate to combine few techniques to help accurately identify a larger number of substances contained in products. All tested samples showed disinfectant efficiency. The comparison of the gas chromatography results and the antimicrobial effect of the samples confirmed that the most advantageous composition, in terms of antimicrobial effect, is the combination of ethanol, propan-2-ol and the quaternary ammonium compound.
