SARB 90th Anniversary Special Edition : editorial statement

The South African Reserve Bank (the Bank), one of the oldest central banks in the developing world, celebrates its 90th anniversary on 30 June 2011. In the period running up to this important milestone it was agreed in principle that the Bank would lend its support to a proposal that an appropriate accredited South African-based academic journal be commissioned to publish a special issue on the theme central banking, with specific reference to the Bank.
