3D deformation measurement in small areas based on grating method and photogrammetry

1996
Material testing, quality control, and dimensioning of structures is related to deformation analysis of the considered objects. An important task is the 3D deformation measurement of an object surface. Optical field methods are suitable for solving this task. Due to the full field information, the results can be compared with finite element analysis. In this paper, an approach is described for measuring the 3D-displacement field of an object surface. It is an optical field method based on photogrammetry in combination with the object grating method. An important feature is that the measured objects can be small (in the range of a few mm2). In this paper, the main aspects (arrangement, calibration, measurement, displacement evaluation, strain calculation) are discussed and special problems measuring small areas are mentioned.© (1996) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
