On Acrylic Fiber Spinning by the Rotary Ring

1985
In the previous paper, the characteristics of the rotary ring was reported on the cotton spinning test. This paper describes the results of the investigation of the possibility of the high-speed and stable acrylic spinning with the rotary ring. The spinning test of the acrylic yarn is compared with that of the stationary ring. The high-speed spinning with the stationary ring is regarded to be difficult because of such troubles as melt yarn due to characteristics of the fiber. Results of the spinning test are as follows :1) The wear of travellers on the rotary ring is far less than that on the stationary ring.2) In the high-speed rotating at 15 500 rpm, yarn fluffs caused by the rotary ring are significantly less than that by the stationary ring.3) The strength and elongation of the single yarn produced by the rotary ring are superior to those by the stationary ring under certain spinning conditions ; under the spinning speed of 15500 rpm and at the start of the spinning. But no significant difference is found under other conditions.(4) In the high-speed rotating operation, the melt yarn by the rotary ring is less than that by the stationary ring.(5) Yarn ends-down and traveller fly-off with the rotary ring are signifcantly lower than those with the stationary ring.(6) The power consumption by the rotary ring does not differ from that by the stationary ring. From the general condiderations of the above results, it is concluded that the rotary ring is effective for the high-speed spinning of the acrtylic yarn.
