Enhancement of welding strength on Eglin steel using MIG welding process

2020
Abstract The welding technique plays an essential role in the metal forming process. The various welding methods are used to weld steel materials. The Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding is an advanced welding method to produce excellent joints with good strength. At the same time, hard materials are also easily welded by this technique. The current, voltage, and speed are the essential factors that affect or change the strength of the weld. The objective of the paper is to maximize the welding strength using optimal input parameters. The Taguchi scheme is used to decide the suitable combinations of optimal levels of factors. The role of each factor is determined through analysis of variance and interaction graph. The correlation and its transforms are studied through contour plot analysis.
