Expression of 67LR,MMP-7 and TIMP-1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and its significance

【Objective】To observe the expression of 67 kD laminin receptor(67LR),matrix metalloproteinase-7(MMP-7) and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) and analyze their clinical pathological significance.【Methods】By using the immunohistochemistry SP technology was applied to detect the expression of 67LR,MMP-7 and TIMP-1 in 56 cases of ESCC tissues,26 cases of adjacent atypical hyperplasia tissues and 23 cases of normal epithelium of mucosa respectively.The relation with infiltration and metastasis of ESCC and their correlation were analyzed.【Results】①The positive expression rates of 67LR,MMP-7 and TIMP-1 in atypical hyperplasia tissues and carcinoma tissues were higher than those in normal epithelium of esophageal mucosa(P 0.01).②In the tissues of ESCC,the positive rates of 67 LR expression on the submucous layer invasion,low-muscle invasion,deep-muscle invasion and outer layer invasion were compared with each other,the difference was of no significance(P 0.05);The positive rates of expression of MMP-7 protein on the 3 layers invaded mentioned above increased in proper order,there was significant difference among the groups(P 0.01);The positive rates of expression of TIMP-1 protein on the 3 layers invaded mentioned above decreased in proper order,there was significant difference among the groups(P 0.05).③ Between the cases of lymph node metastasis group and the cases of non-metastatic group,the positive rates of expression of 67LR,MMP-7 and TIMP-1 had significant difference between the two groups(P 0.05 or P 0.01).④Results showed that the expression of 67LR was positively correlated with that of MMP-7,negatively correlated with that of TIMP-1(P 0.05).The expression of MMP-7 had no correlation with TIMP-1(P 0.05).【Conclusion】①67LR,MMP-7 and TIMP-1 protein participated in occurrence and development of ESCC possibly.②There was no correlation between the expression of 67LR protein and invasion of ESCC,there was correlation between the expression of MMP-7 and TIMP-1 protein and invasion of ESCC.③There was correlation between the expression of 67LR protein,MMP-7 protein and TIMP-1 protein and metastasis of ESCC.④67LR,MMP-7 and TIMP-1 protein played a synergistic effect during the process of occurrence and development and infiltration,metastasis of ESCC probably.Combined determination of the variation in them could predict the malignant biological behavior of ESCC.
