Fast adaptive electrical capacitance volume tomography

2016
Adaptive electrical capacitance volume tomography(AECVT) provides further flexibility to the imaging process in comparison to conventional electrical capacitance volume tomography(ECVT), which is an important research direction of electrical capacitance tomography(ECT). Aiming at the problem that time of computation for AECVT, a new sampling strategy for AECVT in which only includes those capacitance measurements from the same and the nearby plane electrodes is proposed. Although cross-plane measurements improved accuracy of 3D image reconstruction, yet our results show that measurements from separated electrodes have small effect on imaging since the order of vibration on both capacitance measurements or sensitivity map is much smaller than which of the in-plane and the nearby plane. Thus, this sampling approach leads to a reduction in acquisition time nearly 30% for AECVT data, with accepted degradation in image quality.
