PAVEMENT DETERIORATION AND TRUCK LOADS IN WINNIPEG

1997
Truck traffic is believed to be important in the process of pavement deterioration. However, there is much that is either not known or, at least, imperfectly understood about the relationship between axle loads and pavement deterioration. This paper describes research that develops pavement performance equations for truck routes within Winnipeg. The equations relate the change in condition of pavements over time to differences in axle loads. It uses historical pavement condition data collected between 1985 and 1994 and traffic data developed from a recent study. The paper concludes with specifications on the implications.
