Complete fusion of 9Be + 29Si

Abstract Evaporation residues resulting from the 9 Be + 29 Si fusion reaction have been measured in the 9 Be bombarding energy range 17 ⩽ E L ⩽ 40MeV. The ratio of measured complete-fusion cross section of weakly bound nuclei to the calculated total cross section appears to be hindered when compared to the case of similar systems involving only strongly bound nuclei. The hindrance of the fusion probability at energies near the interaction barrier is correlated to the separation energy of the participants as well as to the entrance-channel mass asymmetry.
