Spin off is an important initiative that has developed strongly in recent years, born in universities with a technological focus, a joint strategy between government, companies and universities for the promotion of both innovative initiatives supported by research processes, mainly, that contribute significantly to economic growth, to science and technology, because their entrepreneurs are mostly researchers within universities. Considering the creation of the recent Law of Spin Off in Colombia and the challenges that this entails. This research proposes a characterization of the incorporation of this strategy applied in the academic field of the universities of Colombia, which will be developed from a bibliographical review taking as a methodological foundation the qualitative / descriptive approach, which seeks to contextualize the concept and the Strategies proposed by universities in the world for the promotion and support of Spin Off, identifying the way in which they could have as a reference to incorporate the topic in Colombian institutions. A systematic review of the literature was carried out based on the study of the websites of 50 universities in Colombia. With this information and considering the identified world reference, we intend to establish strategies that favor the promotion and development of Spin Off in Colombia and respond to the legal initiative on the subject. For the Colombian case it is important to recognize the existing dynamics in the subject and the interest that is increasing. However, the lack of instruments and promotion programs that promote this type of initiatives on a continuous basis is still evident. The proposal proposes strategies based on the triple helix model that articulate the participation of universities-government and companies in the support and promotion of this type of company.
