Microwave surface states in 1D periodic stripe.

2019
We investigated the transmission of microwave signal through the periodic microstrip - being the one-dimensional photonic crystal operating in the regime of GHz-frequencies. The system was examined numerically and experimentally to show, how to tune the position of stop bands in the band structure by adjusting the structural parameters. In particular, we investigated the modes localized at the terminations (surfaces) of the microstrip, which are characterized by the frequencies in the range of the stop bands. We developed also the lumped element model which reproduces the most important features of considered system. The results we obtained can be used in the designing of microwave filters for frequency-division multiplexing. It allows to introduce the pilot signal of selected frequency in the form of the surface state.
