Estimates of genetic variability of yield in tea (Camellia sinensis L.) in North-East India

1995
Genetic variability, broad sense heritability and genetic advance were studied for yield of made tea in 155 genotypes at Tocklai, Jorhat. Early generation selection for yield improvement solely based on seedling vigour was found to be less effective. Fairly high heritability with high genetic advance indicated that yield may be controlled by additive gene action. Considerable yield improvement could be achieved by donal selection.
