Encapsulated Silver Clusters as Oxidation Catalysts

1994
A novel supported metal catalyst has been prepared, that consists of Ag clusters a few manometers in diameter which are encapsulated in an amorphous silica coating only a few Angstroms in thickness and are deposted on an oxide support. The synthesis of this catalyst and its physical characterization are described. Its potential use as a selective oxidation catalyst is discussed.
