For the first time, this handbook summarizes data about 34 marine protected areas (MPAs) of the Crimea, which are part of national and regional protected areas. There are species compositions of flora and fauna, and various protected species and habitats; costal-aquatic landscapes are described, along with threats and prospects of development for MPAs and the various types of nature uses. Information is also given on the regulatory framework for the functioning of protected areas, current national and international legislation in the field of environmental protection, a glossary and a list of references. The Handbook is beautifully illustrated, with map showing the location of the objects, pictures of major protected species of plants and animals listed in the Red Book of Russia, Red Book of the Crimea, Black Sea Red Data Book, Red List Habitats of Europe, and other useful source information. This book is intended for ecologists, hydrobiologists, and environmental managers.
