Robust Elevation Filtering Algorithm for Short-range Clutter Suppression of Non-side-looking Arrays

Current elevation filtering approaches for short-range clutter suppression of non-side-looking arrays(NSL) are sensitive to terrain relief and unable to sufficiently suppress the clutter near the altitude line return.A robust elevation filtering algorithm is presented in this paper.Via placing a set of nulls,a broad notch is formed in the short-range clutter elevation support area.Therefore the weak robustness of the approaches that place one null at each range gate is enhanced.Only one weight is computed which can be applied to every range gate,so the computational burden is alleviated greatly.Computer simulation results prove its validity.
