Effects of irradiation experiments on EBR-II environment and operation

1973
The primary mission of the EBR-II reactor is the irradiation of fast reactor fuels and materials. Approximately 190 differert experiments have been or are being irradiated in EBR-II. Because they contain varying amounts of fissile material these experiments significantly affect the neutron-flux, gamma- flux, and power distributions in EBR-II. Each experiment has its own thermalhydraulic characteristics which affects the thermalhydraulic performance of the whole reactor system. The requirements for specified and controlled irradiation conditions for the experiments affects operating parameters such as run length and fuel handling time. (5 references) (auth)
