Protocol design and implementation of VLC/OCC heterogeneous network

Nowadays, VLC/RF heterogeneous network has been widely studied, but the network is not working properly under the scenario of restricted RF technology (underwater communication and mine communication, strong magnetic environment such as high voltage distribution room, hospital radiology department, etc.). This paper studies the visible light communication (VLC)/ optical camera communication (OCC) heterogeneous network which can be applied under the scenario of restricted RF technology. We design the frame format, access protocol, communication protocol and build the experimental platform. The experiments show that the heterogeneous network designed in this paper can achieve reliable VLC communication at 1Mbps within 4.6m and reliable OCC communication at 240Kbps.
