Pure Frequency Converter Metasurface Based on Transmissive Temporal Aperiodic Supercells

This study presents a pure and linear frequency converter metasurface composed of engineered transmissive time-modulated radiating meta-atoms. Such meta-atoms are formed by a temporal patch resonator, a static patch resonator and two phase shifters. A pure frequency conversion is achieved by breaking periodicity of the temporal meta-atoms through two phase shifters. Experimental results demonstrate that the metasurface introduces a transmissive frequency conversion characterized by a linear response, high frequency conversion ratio and controllable frequency bands and transmission magnitude level.
