Stereoscopic (3D) panorama creation on portable devices

A method for generating a stereoscopic panoramic image comprises pivoting a portable camera device and acquiring a plurality of frames. A plurality of at least partially overlapping individual images are received by parts of the scene. The method comprises tuning of the individual images, including determining displacements of the imaging device between acquisitions of frames. Multiple panoramic images are formed, including the joining of individual images of the scene in accordance with spatial relationships, and determining corresponding relationship between the plurality of stereoscopic panoramic images. The multiple panoramic images are processed on the basis of the stereoscopic corresponding relations to form a stereoscopic panoramic image.
