Effects of Specific Muscle Power Increasing upon Patients with Metatarsal Alterations: An Objective Analysis

1985
Mechanical alterations from static or dynamic origin are always very important ethiopathogenic elements. In many cases these alterations cannot be normalized by means of structural corrections and, from a clinical point of view, a good improvement can be achieved by increasing muscular efficiency. Following previous experiences with electrical stimulation to increase muscle power (l), patients affected by common metatarsalgias of static origin (3,8), not requiring surgical intervention, have been stimulated in order to obtain a valid therapy thus substituting orthosis and passive mobilization. The present study reports and describes the effects induced by this treatment throughout the functional recovery of gait analyzed by means of the Vector Diagram Technique (VDT).
