An 1.5-kW Dual-Stage Converter with Combined Control for V2G Application

This paper describes a two-stage bi-directional power conversion system (PCS) which realizes bi-directional power How between the grid and the electric vehicle (EV) battery. The proposed PCS is constructed using a full bridge AC/DC converter in the grid side and a dual active bridge (DAB) DC/DC converter in the battery side. A novel control strategy combining extended phase shift (EPS) control and single phase shift (SPS) control is proposed to reduce the RMS current and extend the range of zero-voltage switching (ZVS). Moreover, a novel combined controller with repetitive control, proportional resonate control and proportional integrate control is adopted to suppress the harmonic current. The topology and the control strategy are described in detail. Its feasibility has been verified with an 1.5-kW prototype.
