Study on Electro-Optical Control Performance of Holographic Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal Grating

2021
Compared with ordinary volume holographic gratings, holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal(H-PDLC) grating has the advantage of adjustable electronically controlled diffraction efficiency. In this work, we theoretically simulated the degree of refractive index modulation that affects the diffraction efficiency of holographic volume gratings. Through the interference of two symmetric laser beams, a symmetric transmission H-PDLC grating was made. The diffraction properties and electro-optical characteristics of the H-PDLC were also studied. Relevant experiments were conducted to prepare a volume holographic grating with a diffraction efficiency of 74.4% and a control amplitude of when an external 50Hz rectangular wave voltage of 40V/um was applied.
