Capacidade funcional do idoso institucionalizado avaliado pelo KATZ

Introduction: The evaluation of the functional capacity is important for quality of life of the old one. The execution of the activities of daily life is seen as a measure accepted and certified to secure this analysis, being employed by the professionals of the area of health, and of extreme importance for the nurse, to judge the degrees of dependence of his patients. KATZ'S Rate was developed to value the degree of dependence of the old hemp at the necessity or not of help to carry out basic activities of the daily life. In the end, the patient can be classified with dependence; partial dependence or independence. Thinking that old many people institutionalized are seen how incompetent of carrying out activities of the daily life after his admission in the institution of long permanence. Objective: To check the functional capacity of the old ones in an institution of long permanence. Methods: Participate 38 old when participants institutionalized, where there was applied Katz's Rate, in which it aims to identify the degree of dependence of the institutionalized old ones. Results: There were dependence evidences between the institutionalized old ones, being partially dependent in the bathtub, to be put on and to go to the bathroom and independence in the salute, transfer and food. Conclusion: Between the old ones interviewed to the activities of bathtub, to be put on and to go to the bathroom are carried out in the partially dependent form, while the activities of salutes, transfer and food are fulfilled in the independent form.
