Design and analysis of a multiple-beam extended interaction oscillator with coaxial structure

2017
The applications of multiple-beam in the Extended Interaction Oscillator with coaxial structure permits a significant increase in the average output power at high frequencies. The EIO circuits suitable for the multiple-beam interaction are designed in a coaxial structure. The analysis of this newly developed circuits shows it can interaction with the multiple-beam efficiently. To demonstrate this capability, a Ka-band EIO with coaxial structure has been designed. A five-beam with a total current of 5 A (evenly divided among five beams) at a voltage of 25 kV was used in this device. Simulations with a 3-D PIC-code predict an output power up to 22 kW at 34.5 GHz, the efficiency is about 17.6%.
