Real Time Implementation of Frequency Separation Management Strategy of Hybrid Source for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Applications

2020
Recently, Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) becomes a solution to replace internal combustion engines because there low air pollution. However, there are some technical challenges and objectives such as cost, durability and energy consumption and other defies. These characteristics are related directly to the sizing process, energy management and used technologies. This paper deals with the real time implementation of an Energy Management Strategy (EMS) based on frequency separation of a hybrid source of energy, which is composed fuel cell as main source and batteries as auxiliary one. It is chosen due its simplicity of implementation and to improve the fuel cell lifetime with respecting its intrinsic characteristics. The implementation is carried out using a test bench of 1 kW with a Hardware In the Loop (HIL) approach. The obtained results confirmed the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed strategy during two cycles (NEDC and Artemis)
