Group Exhibition: 'Trans_Formations I', Laurent Delaye Gallery, Ramsgate, UK, 2021

2021
Two new collaged works were put on display at the new Laurent Delaye gallery as part of this group exhibition. These works were the result of a large series of collages made during lockdown utilising new signs and symbols, new coloured and sprayed sheets of paper, pours of ink and/or tinted floor varnish and cut-up older paper works. These collages also embedded a new move by adding printed photos (supplying additional socio-cultural readings). Although the two examples shown were not collages with photo elements, the entire series of works aimed to employ and implement the lessons learnt from quick fire, small paper works made during a restrictive period. The exhibition is part of a series. Whereas many disciplines are represented throughout the program, the gallery also focuses on artists’ designs, namely, design issued and derived from the practice of fine art. Artists will at certain times exhibit functional objects produced in parallel with their corpus of works. In close collaboration with the artists, the gallery produces high quality limited editions which allow affordable prices for iconic works. My two exhibited works are part of this concern and my outcomes extend my painting practice into collages and then again as editions into giclee digital prints re-enforcing my overall research concerns of the relationship between physical, embodied making and the digital screen (or screens). Artists: Katrina Blanin, Stephen Brandes, Richard Caldicott, Duncan Cheetman, Stephen Geddes, Berenice Mayaux, Claire Pestaille, Michael Stubbs
