Le modèle de manteau neigeux Crocus et ses applications

After a brief review of the historical development of snowpack modelling starting around 1960, we present the main features of a detailed snow model named Crocus. This model has been recently implemented into a land surface model which simulates the interactions between the continental surfaces and the atmosphere. Five applications of the snow model are described, either in stand-alone mode or coupled with the atmosphere. Finally, we present the main prospects for future improvements of the model and of its utilization framework.
