A low profile dual polarized antenna with AMC reflector for base stations

2020
This paper proposes a low profile dual polarized antenna with AMC reflector for base stations, which consists of a pair of orthogonal dipoles, a feeding structure, and an AMC reflector. Rather than the metal reflector usually used in traditional base station antenna, the AMC reflector is the most significant feature of the presented design, resulting in that the height of the base station antenna is reduced significantly, so the volume of the entire antenna is 150×150×18.8 mm3. The simulation results show that the operating frequency range is from 1.69 GHz to 2.71 GHz with |S11|<-10 dB, the isolation between two ports is better than 20 dB in the whole band, and the largest gain is as high as 10.1 dB.
