Tunable light absorption of Ag nanoparticles @ carbon sphere by the position control of Ag nanoparticles

2019
Abstract The light absorption control of Ag nanoparticles @ carbon sphere (AgNPs@CS) composite microstructure has been studied by Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) methods. It is proved in this work that the light absorption of AgNPs@CS can be tuned by the position control of the Ag nanoparticles. Great light absorption enhancement has been observed as the Ag nanoparticles is the angle 22.5°, 45° and 270° connected with carbon sphere. And significant light absorption reduction has been obtained as the Ag nanoparticles are the angles 90°, 337.5°. The main reasons for this tunable light absorption of AgNPs@CS can be attributed to the plasmonic light intensity and light scattering direction changes through the position control of the Ag nanoparticles. And the light absorption of AgNPs@CS can be further tuned by adding more Ag nanoparticles on carbon sphere. This work could helpful for the design of metal nanoparticles @ carbon sphere structure assisted photo-catalysis and photothermal conversion.
