De la libreria, contemplando al Cielo. Imagens e cultura visual em livros de ciências e técnicas da Biblioteca de D. Maria Guadalupe de Lencastre (1630-1715), Duquesa de Aveiro

2012
D. Maria Guadalupe de Lencastre (1630-1715), whose ʺuniversal cultureʺ has been celebrated by many of her contemporaries, gathered a remarkable library of more than 4300 volumes in her Madrid palace covering varied fields of knowledge. This article will focus on the scientific and technical interests of the Duchess of Aveiro, drawing from the manuscript catalogue of her library, kept in Toledo, in the Nobility section of the National Historical Spanish Archive, and will particularly concentrate on the engraved frontispieces of some books.
