Induktives Randschichtumschmelzlegieren der Titanlegierung TiAl6V4

1995
The usually poor wear behaviour of titanium materials can be improved by surface alloying processes, in which either hardening components are produced in situ or wear resistant particles are transplanted into the near-surface region. Serving as an example in this context there are to demonstrate the possibilities of induction surface alloying of a Ti-6Al-4V alloy. With boron and/or graphite powder crack-free cases had been produced up to a depth of 2.6 mm. The microstructure contains hardening components - produced during that treatment - in a homogeneous matter. The wear resistance against abrasive load shows a sevenfold increase compared with the plain titanium material.
