Topology analysis of switched inductor Z-source multilevel inverter

2016
The multilevel inverters are extensively used in high voltage and high power dc-ac applications but these are of possibility of buck conversion type. The boosting of output voltage is required in the power conversion of dc-dc or dc-ac especially for electric motor vehicles. The effective solutions can be given by using dc-dc boost converter or conventional Z-source inverter. The combination of multilevel inverter and Z-source inverter can solve the limitation of buck conversion of multilevel inverters. The switched inductor Z-source inverter can also provide the high boost factor to increase voltage gain. This paper presents the topology of Z-source multilevel inverter using switched inductor. The topology is evaluated in MATLAB Simulink environment with simple boost multicarrier pulse width modulation technique.
