Gaia Data Release 1

The European Space Agency decided that, to maximize the scientific return and public awareness of this project, not only must there be no proprietary rights to the mission data for the scientists who worked on it, but also that its results had to be made available to the entire scientific community—and to anybody who wishes to download them from the internet—even before the completion of the mission.
