Room-temperature ultraviolet laser emission from ZnO hexagonal microprisms

We report the data concerning the optically pumped laser generation in the ZnO microprisms at room temperature. The ZnO microprisms were grown on the single crystal (100) silicon substrates by a solid-vapor-phase process. Laser effect was observed when the optically pump power was higher than 685 kW cm -2 at room temperature.
