Viviendo entre montañas: alegrías y sufrimientos en el Sanatorio Durán

espanolEl presente articulo quiere analizar el diario vivir en el Sanatorio Carlos Duran Cartin cuando funcionaba como sanatorio para personas enfermas de tuberculosis, por medio de documentos escritos entre un paciente y su amigo. En estos se relatan las vivencias y los infortunios acontecidos durante los ocho meses que duro el internamiento debido al protocolo medico del lugar, permitiendo apreciar desde una nueva optica las experiencias de quienes habitaban este sitio y los avances medicos en el combate a la tuberculosis dentro del Sanatorio Carlos Duran Cartin. Aunque esos documentos escritos dejan de aparecer por razones que no se explican en ellos, son suficientemente claros para inferir conclusiones relacionadas con la vision del Sanatorio como centro de excelencia medica a nivel nacional y centroamericano pero que probablemente no era un lugar que estuviera al alcance de cualquier persona por los altos costos del tratamiento que en algunos casos, debia cubrir el paciente. EnglishThis article wants to analyze the daily life in the Sanatorium Carlos Duran Cartin when it was used as a sanatorium for people suffering from tuberculosis, by means of written documents between a patient and his friend. These relate the experiences and misfortunes that occurred during the eight months of internment due to the medical protocol of the place, allowing to appreciate from a new perspective the experiences of those who inhabited this site and the medical advances in the fight against tuberculosis within the Sanatorium Carlos Duran Cartin. Although these written documents cease to appear for reasons that are not explained in them, they are clear enough to infer conclusions related to the vision of the Sanatorium as a center of medical excellence at national and Central American level but that it probably was not a place that was within reach of anyone because of the high costs of treatment that in some cases, the patient had to cover.
