A Study on Screw Type Dispenser Driven by Two Degree of Freedom Actuator (Proposal of the Printing Principle)

2005
With this report, we propose a new printing principle which are capable of fulfilling intermittent and continuous discharge of ultrahigh-speed response for high-viscosity powder and granular materials. This printing principle is a method to control discharge amount by generating a sharp, positive peak pressure and negative pressure by using internal resistance of a screw pump. In this report, “A Combination pump driven by Two-degree of freedom actuator” is used as a concrete form of a dispenser. The actuator is composed of a giant-magnetostrictive alloy and a DC servo motor. And the combination pump is composed of a piston, and the screw pump formed on same axis of the piston. The printing experiments of continuousness and intermittent were done using the developed dispenser. The viscosity of the material is 10 Pa.s or more and diameter of the particles are 5-10μm. (1) Starting and ending edges of continuous printing line were able to be formed with high quality under the conditions of stage speed 200 mm/s and piston's setting time 3 ins. (2) High-speed intermittent printing are achieved by the order for milli-seconds under the condition of not axially moving the main body of the dispenser. The developed dispenser has the responsiveness of 10-50times in comparison with the conventional types.
