Sustained Percolation in Stretched Silver Nanowire Networks for Stretchable Inter‐Connection Applications

2014
Here we report a highly stretchable inter-connection technology utilizing combination of the mechanical meander shape effect and silver nanowire (AgNW)-based electrode's flexibility. Horseshoe-shaped elastic materials, polydimethylsiloxanes, are used to embed the AgNW conductors for released stress concentration. Continuously maintained 2-D percolation of stretchable AgNW networks overcome the rigid nature of Printed Circuit Board (PCB)'s restrictions. The horseshoe shaped inter-connection maintains superior conductivity as well as repeating reliability under tensile strains upto 20 %, allowing the durable and practical stretchable PCB inter-connecting applications.
