Ocular Rigidity and Uveitis

2021
Uveitis attacks can have various clinical manifestations in the anterior and/or posterior segment. Changes in tissue composition and vasculature, as well as changes in intraocular pressure, and aqueous flow and composition can lead to measurable changes in the biomechanics of the uveitic eye. Μeasurements in a limited set of eyes may suggest that ocular rigidity is increased in uveitic patients. Recent studies on cornea biomechanical properties have showed changes to occur in the setting of autoimmune inflammatory connective tissue disorders. Most studies suggest lower corneal hysteresis and lower cornea resistance factor in uveitis.
