Hábitos de consumo y práctica deportiva en estudiantes universitarios

2019
The purpose of this study was to examine the habits of sports consumption and physical activity practice in university students enrolled in the bachelor’s degree in primary teaching education. Also, the relationships between these two variables and the associations with gender were analyzed. A total of 86 students (29 men and 57 women) with an average of 19.33 years (SD = 3.15) participated in this crosssectional descriptive study. The results indicated that 67.4% and 69.8% of the students habitually practice and visualize sports, respectively. However, they usually dedicate more time to sports-sports activities (M = 213.69, DE = 258) than to sports visualization competitions (M = 93.6, DE = 100.44). In addition, there is a positive correlation between both variables, Rho(86) = .343, p <0.001. When the results were analyzed according to gender, the Wilcoxon rank test showed that men spend more time practicing, U = 440, p < 0.001, r = 0.39, and visualize more sports, U = 334, p < 0.001, r = 0.49, than women. These results help us to better understand the physical-sports habits of university students.
