Sintering of NbTa powders from aluminothermic reduction product (ATR)

Abstract This paper presents powder metallurgical developments of NbTa compounds at varied concentrations obtained by aluminothermic reduction of the oxides. These powders have low production costs. Processing data are presented as well as the behavior of the compacts during sintering. Particular emphasis is put on sintering parameters, linear shrinkage and specific surface-area reduction as well as on the analysis of the surface morphology changes.
