Cable-Less Microwave Vertical Interconnection Designed for Two Face-To-Face Microstrip Lines on Parallel Print Circuit Boards

A cable-less vertical interconnection structure is designed to connect microstrip lines on different print circuit boards. This vertical interconnection is realized with fuzz buttons that the elastic press-fit technique helps to provide good electric connection. The microwave properties of the structure are examined in numerical validation. The calculated transmission loss is very small at the order of 0.2dB up to 6GHz. It makes the cableless vertical interconnection very promising in the 5G communications.
