Slideways are among the most important elements of machine tools. They are supplied with specialized slide lubricants to insure good working results. Additive treatment of slide lubricants enables them to be used under boundary and mixed friction conditions. The interaction between mineral oil based special purpose lubricants and critical materials as well as possible ways of reducing their sensitivity are discussed
