Determination of the Leakege Parameters of Synchronous Hydrogenerators

An application of FEM for studying the leakage of stator slots of synchronous hydrogenerators is presented. The approach presented takes into account the saturation of the stator teeth and the mutual influence of the current in adjacent stator slots. Results for leakage inductance and emf due to the slot leakage are obtained for 2 MW and 4 MW synchronous hydro generators.
