Magneto-optical spectroscopy of strained La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 thin films grown by “laser MBE”

Abstract We report on the strain effects upon the magneto-optical properties of La 2/3 Sr 1/3 MnO 3 thin films, which were grown using the pulsed laser deposition technique under low ozone pressure. Two notable features can be observed in the experimental longitudinal and polar magneto-optical spectra at ∼2 and ∼3.4 eV: the first, not affected by the strain effects, is assigned to the (t 2g →e g ) majority-spin intra-band transition, whereas the second corresponds to the (O (2p) → t 2g ) charge transfer transition between minority-spin bands.
