Monitoring and Controlling Home Appliances by Different Network Technologies

The paper presents a smart home system using relatively easily accessible resources and characterized by reasonable prices, such as Raspberry Pi3, WeMos-D1 board and Interactive Graphical SCADA System (IGSS). The developed solution is also characterized by several advantages related to its maintenance over time, as well as the existence of facilities in use for the people living in such a smart home, whether they are old persons or have certain disabilities. The purpose of the present research was to achieve a centralized control system of the various devices in the smart home under the control of the IGSS. In particular, the aim was to minimize physical wiring and the predominant use of wireless networks, the permanent remote control of all domestic devices and appliances, as well as monitoring of their current operating status.
