"Plasma Quest" Code for Pulse Scenario Synthesis and Transient Electromagnetic Studies in Tokamaks

A "Plasma Quest" code has been developed in a frame of the ITER activity. This is a new interactive numeric tool with user-friendly graphic interface, aimed at pulse scenario synthesis, plasma vertical displacement episodes (VDE) and disruption simulation in tokamak devices. In the synthesis mode, it creates design-constrained pulse operating scenarios with coil currents, voltages, fields and forces fitted into the given limits. At any time the code can be switched from the synthesis mode to the analysis one, to evaluate the vertical instability increment, simulate VDE and plasma disruption. Automatic data transfer to 3-D analysis tools makes a step toward the codes integration. Testing results for the ITER operating scenario are reported.
